First use requires about 1 GB of AI model downloads. After setup, receipt scanning and spending chat work offline. ### How is Spenti different from MeowJot? MeowJot reads slips from bank-app photo albums. Its [privacy notice](https://assets.meowjot.com/public/privacy/privacy.html) permits cloud storage and sharing within the KBTG/KBank group, but does not disclose where OCR runs. Spenti reads slips and paper receipts on your phone, with no Spenti account and no upload for processing. Personal cloud backup is opt-in. It gives you 100 receipts or slips and 100 chat messages per month, CSV and Excel export, and backup to your own iCloud or Google Drive. Pro costs ฿99 per month, ฿799 per year or ฿2,999 once: unlimited scans and chat, everything in Basic, every room and the whole family of six mascots. The Boy's and Girl's rooms and Brother are free on every plan. ### If Spenti has no servers for my data, where do my receipts live? Your receipts and spending records are stored in a local database on your phone. Optional backup on Basic or Pro copies your data to your own iCloud or Google Drive account. Your phone's operating-system backup settings may also include app data. Spenti does not receive those backups. ### Does the AI send anything to OpenAI or Google? Receipt recognition and spending chat run on your phone, without sending your receipts or questions to a cloud AI provider. After the models are downloaded, both work offline. Optional Google Drive or iCloud backup is separate: enabling it copies your financial data to your own cloud account. ### What happens if I lose my phone? Without a usable backup, you may lose the records stored on that phone. Basic and Pro offer optional backup to your own iCloud or Google Drive. Check that a recent backup is available before changing phones; you will need access to the same cloud account and any backup passphrase you set. ### I can't read Thai. Can I still use it? Yes — that's the point. Spenti reads the Thai slip and gives you the merchant, amount and date in English. ### Why is it slow on my phone? Processing time depends on your phone, image quality, batch size, heat and power settings. Let the model download finish, then try a small batch first. Large imports can take longer as the phone warms up. Keep the app open during scanning. If scanning repeatedly stalls, [contact support](https://spenti.app/support/) with your device and app version. ### Live exchange rates need the internet. Doesn't that break the offline promise? After the models are downloaded, scanning, categorising, budgets and spending chat work offline. Network use includes model downloads and updates, update checks, store purchases, links you open, and optional cloud backup or live exchange rates. Backup transfers your financial data to your own cloud account. The exchange-rate request does not include receipt contents or transaction amounts; it is off by default in Settings → Currency. Spenti supports Thai bank slips, PromptPay screenshots, and Thai or English paper receipts. Results vary with the layout and image quality. Review the amount, date, merchant or recipient, and category; correct any mistakes before relying on your spending totals.
